WHO AM I?

Born in Chicago, IL, and living between Bolingbrook, Carbondale, and Chicago for most of my life, I was raised in an environment steeped in service, making my pursuit of social justice a natural path. From a young age, I aspired to attend law school and practice law, a passion sparked by my father's incarceration when I was just six years old. However, as I grew older, I realized my true calling lay in advocating for families affected by a loved one's incarceration, much like my own.

Witnessing my single mother's tireless efforts to support me and my younger brother left a lasting impression on me. I often wondered how such immense responsibility could fall solely on my mother, while my father, despite working in prison, contributed nothing. This contemplation led me to dream of passing a law requiring incarcerated individuals to pay child support with their prison earnings. Whether realistic or not, this early idea was a clear sign that I was destined for a career in policy work.

I proudly represent Southern Illinois University Carbondale, where I earned a bachelor's degree in English Literature, and Drexel University, where I completed a Master's in Public Policy with a concentration in Nonprofit Management. Drawing on my experiences and education, I am committed to advocacy work that strives to bring meaningful change to diverse marginalized groups. Currently serving as the Finance and Operations Manager with Project Avary in San Rafael, CA.
