Hi, I’m Portia.

With a steadfast commitment to social justice, I aim to amplify marginalized voices and drive meaningful societal transformation.

My Approach

Grassroots Organizing and Mobilization

In my commitment to social justice, I have played a pivotal role in grassroots organizing and mobilization, particularly within the nonprofit sector. Through collaborative efforts with organizations in Chicago, Carbondale, and Philadelphia, I have led initiatives that empower people, young and old, to actively participate in social change. These efforts have not only increased civic engagement but also fostered a new generation of informed and passionate advocates for social justice.

Research

My research has focused on examining the approaches of government and nonprofit sectors in providing support to children and families of incarcerated individuals. By analyzing various policies, programs, and initiatives, I have identified key areas where support systems can be improved and more effectively implemented. This work aims to highlight the unique challenges faced by these families and advocate for evidence-based solutions that promote their well-being and resilience. Through thorough research and public awareness efforts, I strive to influence policy changes and foster collaborative efforts to better support this vulnerable population.
